Comedian Stephen Colbert told Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to tone down her predictions of a blue wave on “The Late Show” Tuesday, but Pelosi doubled down anyway and guaranteed a Democratic victory.

“Up until today, I would’ve said if the election were held today, we would win. Now, I’m saying is, ‘we will win,'” Pelosi declared. “We will win. We will win.” (RELATED: Former Obama Speechwriters Tells Colbert To Cool It With Talk Of Blue Wave)

Colbert had flashbacks of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential run and begged Pelosi not to be too overconfident.

“Please, don’t say that. Please don’t say that,” Colbert replied. “Do you want to say that on Hillary’s fireworks barge that she canceled. Please, please, please don’t say that.”

“We will win,” she shot back. “We own the ground. We’re not yielding one grain of sand … We’re just walking precincts and if everyone votes, we’ll have an even bigger victory. The Democrats will carry the House, if we have a bigger victory … the Senate, governorships. It’s going to be a great night for America.”

Colbert said Pelosi’s overly confident predictions made him want to “sacrifice a goat” to “take the hex off” of her statements and then asked if Democrats were preaching a message of unity.

“It’s about unifying our country. I think it is a time to heal,” Pelosi answered. Colbert asked about tempering political discourse and Pelosi used the question to once again predict a Democratic victory.

“Well, I think when we win, you will see evidence of that. Because when we do win, we will have, as we open the new Congress, we will honor the vows of our founders. E pluribus unum, from many one,” she said.

“It’s okay to disagree in the marketplace of ideas. That’s exciting. But it is also important to find solutions that unify and not divide. And that’s what makes a big difference between Democrats and what’s in the White House now,” she said.
